This stay

Tinos Eco Lodge is an exceptional Ecofriendly Tourist Destination on the Cycladic island of Tinos (Greece). Located in a quiet secluded area at Potamia (Akeratos), surrounded by stone-walled terraces, the lodges respect and blend with Tinos raw nature and its unique handcrafted agricultural heritage. Built out of stone collected from the property own land by master Tinian stone masons - the lodges are FULLY OFF-GRID, POWERED BY THE SUN. Water is treated as a precious resource: rainfall is collected and wastewater is recycled to nourish gardens and organic vegetables. Permaculture principles applied throughout: organic garden with local seeds, greenhouse, vineyard, olive trees, mulberry trees, oak trees, herbs (thyme, sage, oregano, lavender), summer vegetables (tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini), winter vegetables (cabbage, broccoli). Weekly veggie boxes delivered to local restaurants and own houses. Own olives, jams and raki produced. Adjacent to one of the islands rare oak forests. Programs and certifications: Certified PDC (Permaculture Design Course) annually since 2019 with Peter Cow teacher; Volunteer program (min 1 month stay, agrotourism, permaculture, off-grid living, market gardening, stone building, sustainable tourism); Yoga retreats and Ceramic retreats regularly organized. Funded by ESPA (Greek + EU government Small Business Enhancement Program). Beaches Santa Margarita and Lychnaftia at 1.5 km (30-min scenic walk). Views over Mykonos and Ikaria islands from east-facing terraces. Ideal for conscious travellers, couples (Big/Small Stone House with sea view), families, permaculture students (PDC certified courses), volunteers (WWOOFing-style), yoga and ceramic retreat participants, beach lovers, slow travel enthusiasts, digital detox seekers, off-grid enthusiasts.

The host's philosophy

At Tinos Eco Lodge, the goal is to offer a stay for the conscious traveller in harmony with the island's natural resources, autonomously managing energy, water and waste. Each lodge was built from stone sourced on-site by Tinian stonemasons, following a design that integrates natural light and passive solar thermal heating. The hosts believe in decentralised solutions: growing their own food, treating their wastewater and composting their organic waste represents for them a cleaner and more resilient alternative to conventional living.

When to visit?

Spring (April-May) is the ideal time: the island is lush and green, covered in wild flowers, perfect for hiking along marked trails and gathering aromatic herbs. Summer remains appealing thanks to the water self-sufficiency provided by the cisterns and the beaches just a short distance away.

Local producers involved

The lodge produces and delivers weekly baskets of organic vegetables to local restaurants and neighbouring residences. Olive oil, jams and homemade raki are crafted from the estate's harvests (olive trees, mulberry trees, vines, orchard). Certified Permaculture Design Courses (PDC) have been organised annually since 2019.
