What ecobooking is
A search engine for ecological places to stay. Each one is given an eco-score out of 100 points, calculated against a public scale across seven dimensions: energy, water, waste, food, mobility, building, certifications.
Travellers contact the host directly. No payment goes through the platform.
What sets us apart, in one sentence
Our criteria and our scale are public, and the breakdown of the calculation is visible on every listing. You can redo our scores — it is in fact the one thing we ask of a journalist looking into us.
We issue no label and we certify nobody. The eco-score is a comparative information tool, not a warrant of compliance. The only audits we invoke are those of the third-party labels we count.
The business model
For the traveller — no service fee. The price shown is the price paid to the host.
For the host — free, for life, with no commission. No subscription, no listing fee. The big platforms take 15 to 25 %.
What we sell — optional services, labelled as such — sponsored articles in the magazine, featured placements, newsletter slots, communication partnerships. They change nothing about the standard listing, which stays free.
What we do not sell — an eco-score point, or a rank in the search results. The scale is identical for everyone and the ranking follows the score. That is the line we do not cross.
Where we stand
A catalogue under construction, spread across several continents. It grows slowly: every place is read, scored, and published with the detail of its score.
We would rather announce a small true catalogue than a large hollow one. The exact, up-to-date figures we will give you on request.
