01Who we are

ecobooking is a global platform devoted to eco-friendly places to stay. We list places that treat the environment with care — ecolodges, organic farms, cabins, mountain refuges, guesthouses that have made a commitment — and we put travellers in direct touch with the people who run them, with no middleman and no commission.

We stand for another way of travelling: slower, rarer, more attentive to the place it lands in. That standard applies to your data as well. A platform that asks its hosts for transparency owes just as much in return.

Data controller: ecobooking. Contact: info@ecobooking.com

02Our principle: strictly what is needed

We collect only what the platform needs in order to work. No advertising profiles, no selling of data, no data brokers, no ad networks.

Your browsing feeds no parallel business model — ours rests on the hosts, not on you.

03Data we collect

Your accountname, email address, profile photo and phone number, if you choose to provide them.

Your stay requestsdates, number of travellers, the message you send to the host.

The places, for hostsname of the property, location, photos, certifications and the evidence behind the eco-score.

Audience measurementwe count the pages that are viewed, so as to understand what is useful. We do this with our own tools, without any third-party advertising service, and it is never tied to a commercial profile.

04What we do with it

Create and manage your account. Pass your requests on to hosts, and their replies back to you. Send you the messages that concern your account and your stays. Send you our newsletter, if and only if you asked for it. Improve the platform on the basis of aggregated statistics.

Nothing else. In particular, your data is never sold, rented, or handed over for advertising purposes.

05On what legal basis

Performance of the servicefor everything that concerns your account and your bookings.

Your consentfor the newsletter — withdrawable at any moment.

Our legitimate interestto run the platform and keep it secure: audience measurement and prevention of abuse.

06Newsletter

You can unsubscribe in one click, from the link at the foot of every mailing, or by writing to info@ecobooking.com.

Your address then joins a suppression list that we keep for the long term, for the sole purpose of never writing to you again.

07How long we keep it

Account data, for as long as your account exists, then three years. Audience statistics are aggregated and quickly stop being attributable to anyone.

You can ask for your account to be deleted at any time, from your personal space. We do not hold you back, and we do not make it complicated.

08Who we share it with

With the host you contactand with them alone: your name, your message and the dates of your request. That is the very point of a direct introduction.

With a very small number of technical providerswho allow us to host the site, deliver our emails and keep our servers secure. They act on our instructions, are bound by contract, and cannot use your data for their own ends.

No one else. No advertiser, no broker, no social network.

09A global service, protected data

Our places are on every continent, and so are our travellers. Your data is stored on servers located in the European Union.

Where a provider requires a transfer outside the Union, it takes place within a recognised legal framework that maintains the European level of protection, whatever the country you are reading us from.

10Security

Every connection to the site is encrypted. Passwords are stored in an irreversible form: we cannot read them, and no one here knows them.

Access to the data is restricted to the people who strictly need it.

11Cookies

Two, and not one more: the one that keeps you signed in, and the one that remembers your language. No advertising cookies, no third-party trackers.

That is why this site puts no consent banner in your way — we have nothing for you to accept.

12Your rights

The GDPR gives you a right of access to your data, a right to rectification, a right to erasure, a right to data portability, a right to object to the processing and a right to withdraw your consent — at any time, without having to justify yourself.

One address, and one only: info@ecobooking.com. We answer within thirty days, and usually well before that.

13Complaint

If our answer does not satisfy you, you can lodge a complaint with the data protection authority of your country — the supervisory authority of the place where you live.

A question?

Write to us. A person will answer, not a form.
