The family behind Casas da Levada has placed permaculture and environmental, social and economic sustainability at the heart of the design and conception of every space on the property. Their approach is built around four documented commitments: caring for the Earth, caring for People, Fair Share and reducing their Ecological Footprint. Sharing a magical corner of nature, in harmony with the Laurissilva forest listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the traditional levadas of Madeira, is at the core of their vision.
How to get here without a car
When to visit?
Madeira enjoys a mild climate year-round; spring (March–June) is particularly favourable for hiking and exploring the flora of the Laurissilva, while summer and autumn are perfectly suited to water activities and whale watching.
Local producers involved
The property produces its own Sidra Endémica from the apples of the Ponta do Pargo orchard, a carefully selected harvest that expresses the local terroir. The hortas orgânicas (organic kitchen gardens) of the quinta also supply fresh produce to the guests' table.
