The host's philosophy

Yannick and Reine-Claude built Le Repaire du Dodo with their own hands, breathing new life into salvaged materials — driftwood, flea market finds, reclaimed furniture — to create a one-of-a-kind place rooted in respect for nature. Their educational garden, grown without chemicals, yields tropical fruits and local plants through permaculture, composting and mulching. They share their love of La Réunion with their guests through coconut leaf weaving workshops and a treasure hunt featuring 23 hidden dodos scattered throughout the gîte.

When to visit?

Year-round thanks to La Réunion's tropical climate, with a preference for the dry season (April to November) to fully enjoy the sunsets over the lagoon and the garden in full bloom.

Local producers involved

The gîte's educational garden grows papayas, bananas, lychees, vanilla, pitayas and passion fruits, all enjoyed on site. Guests are invited to discover the flavours of La Réunion through these locally grown products, cultivated without any chemical inputs.
