Cuisine prepared with local produce from the garden and neighbouring farmers. A genuine eco commitment: recycled plastic pool edging, wastewater treatment gardens throughout the property. Perched just above a clean, flowing river and hidden away by the surrounding forest, this space is perfect for singles or couples looking to share an experience with nature. This room has plenty of windows for ample amounts of natural light. The partially open bathroom allows for warm afternoon breezes, bird song, and the sweet scent of flowers and fruiting trees. A small, private balcony gives guests an up close view of the jungle and all its treasures.

Tedd Wakeman, a former educator for 30 years, turned his dream into reality by creating Jiwa Eco Escape in the heart of Bali's last remaining intact primary forests, on the slopes of Mount Batukaru. His 'do no harm' philosophy guides every decision, from construction using bamboo and local timber to the phytoremediation gardens that treat wastewater directly on the property. Jiwa is more than a soft luxury retreat: it is a sincere and profound commitment to preserving the exceptional biodiversity of a territory that supplies water to a third of the entire island.
How to get here without a car
When to visit?
Jiwa Eco Escape is ideally visited during the Balinese dry season, from April to October, when the forests of Mount Batukaru are bright and the rice fields are a vivid green. The rainy season (November to March) offers a more mystical atmosphere and lush vegetation, but with frequent rainfall at altitude.
Local producers involved
The Blue Cup Warung kitchen sources its ingredients primarily from the property's vegetable garden and food forests, complemented by local farmers from the village of Karya Sari and the surrounding area of Pupuan, who produce rice, tropical vegetables and fresh fruit.
