The project was born from the restoration of the old flour mill of José Mateus Vilhena, which ceased operations in 1982 — the mill was carefully restored with all its original machinery, giving rise to the integrated Museu da Farinha, a heritage space that embodies a love and dedication to the past. The old barn and residential house were restored to welcome rural tourism. The establishment offers 10 accommodation units carefully named after cereals (a unique cultural identity): Casa do Moleiro (complete miller's house), Suite Trigo, Suite Sorgo, Suite Milho, Suite Milheto, Suite Girasol, Quarto Cevada, Quarto Centeio, Quarto Aveia, Quarto Arroz. Casas da Moagem was born from a desire to breathe new life into José Mateus Vilhena's former grain mill, which ceased operations in 1982, while preserving its original machinery in its entirety. This rural tourism project in Alentejo Litoral brings together the memory of agricultural industrial heritage and authentic hospitality, through the Museu da Farinha integrated within the estate. The property is committed to a sustainable tourism approach recognised by the Biosphere Sustainable Tourism certification.

Open all year round; the Alentejo Litoral is particularly pleasant in spring and autumn for nature and heritage, and in summer for its proximity to the Costa Alentejana.
