Welcome to Molino Río Alájar, once a solitary mill beside the river, now a beautiful estate with six holiday houses built in natural stone.
Molino Río Alájar is nestled in a pristine valley, close to the charming village of Alájar (20 minutes on foot), considered the jewel of the Sierra de Aracena Natural Park. This practically unknown region of Spain is a paradise for young and old, hikers, birdwatchers, horse riders, sun lovers and nature enthusiasts. In the ancient villages that appear as dots across this vast expanse, the rhythm of life is still set by the pace of the donkey. The houses of Molino Río Alájar offer rural and comfortable accommodation in a unique Spanish setting.
We will be delighted to welcome families, couples and children of all ages. Pets are also welcome in our houses.
There is plenty to do on the estate and in its surroundings. We have a swimming pool, a tennis court, a foosball table, a ping-pong table, a pétanque court and an outdoor chess set. You can also go horse riding, cycling or hiking along the many routes and paths that criss-cross the area. In nearby Alájar you will find numerous bars and restaurants serving the most delicious regional dishes of Andalusian cuisine. Throughout the year, fiestas and festivals are held in the sierra. Each season has its own colours, aromas and typical dishes. If you have never visited this area, you are in for a pleasant surprise. At Molino Río Alájar, the hosts are actively committed to reducing their environmental impact by using solar panels, LED lighting and buying in bulk to limit plastic packaging. They source from local merchants and encourage their guests to adopt responsible water and energy consumption. The property supports the sustainable development of the region by inviting travellers to discover traditional craftspeople and producers of the Sierra de Aracena.
La Sierra de Aracena can be visited all year round: spring offers spectacular wild blossoms, summer brings lively village festivals, autumn reveals the colours of the chestnut trees and mushroom season, and winter brings sunny, peaceful days after the first rains.
The region is renowned for its jamón ibérico DOP Jabugo, chestnuts, walnuts, honey, goat's cheese and wild mushrooms. The hosts encourage their guests to buy from local producers and artisans in the Sierra de Aracena.
