Alborada del Eo is a rural apartment retreat located in Vilameitide, Vegadeo, Asturias, within the UNESCO Rio Eo Oscos y Terras de Buron Biosphere Reserve. The property is a fully restored early 20th century farmhouse that had been abandoned for 28 years before its renovation was completed in 2012.
The project combines heritage preservation with sustainability. The restoration used traditional local materials such as wood, stone and slate, while rooftop solar panels support renewable energy and self consumption. The renewable energy project received support from the EU Next Generation Recovery Plan. The property also promotes low emission mobility through electric bike rentals and offers accessible and pet friendly accommodation.
Alborada del Eo has seven accommodation units for couples, families and groups, plus La Bodega, a 40 square meter social space for events of up to 35 people. Amenities include private parking, covered porches, barbecue areas, wood fired ovens, fireplaces, XXL beds and hydromassage baths in selected suites.
Guests can enjoy hiking, e biking, mountain biking, canoeing, birdwatching and the historic Eo Railway Greenway. The location also provides access to western Asturias beaches, waterfalls, coastal villages and mountain destinations such as Taramundi and Los Oscos.

Alborada del Eo was born from the dream of a local child who, faced with the abandonment of farmland and the depopulation of the region, decided to restore this old early-20th-century farmhouse — uninhabited since 1984 — using local materials and in keeping with traditional Asturian architecture. The goal is to forge a connection between city and countryside, to celebrate the heritage of the comarca, and to steadily move toward ever more sustainable accommodation, drawing on renewable energy sources.
How to get here without a car
When to visit?
Open all year round; spring and autumn are ideal for watching migratory birds on the Eo estuary and for hiking in the Oscos; summer is perfect for canoeing on the Río Eo and for trips to the beaches of the Costa Occidental.
Local producers involved
The estate offers handcrafted natural cider for sale (€3.50 per bottle, €40 per case of 12), an iconic local product from Asturias.
